TUBE FITTING SAFETY & INSTALLATION TRAINING
Tube fittings and their usage are seldom given much thought until there is a failure in the system. For most customers a failure is normally defined as a leak. The consequences of a leak can range from a minor inconvenience to a significant event requiring immediate attention and repair. By employing the techniques taught in this course, most of this leakage can be prevented.
This Course is designed to:
- Improve System performance with increased operating efficiency
- Improve workplace safety conditions
- Reduce materials, installation and maintenance costs
Course Outline
- History of the Swagelok Tube Fitting
- Tubing and Pipe Systems
- Installation Procedure
- Tube Fitting Sizing
- Materials of Construction
- Tubing Considerations, specifications and preparation
- Sealing Principles
- Tube Fitting Tools
- Adapters
- Safety Considerations

TUBE BENDING TRAINING
The Swagelok Tube Bending Essentials course equips attendees with the expertise to accurately cut and deburr tubing, understand indicator marks on a hand tube bender, and ensure proper alignment of tubing measurements during bending, enhancing the integrity and efficiency of their systems. -
ORBITAL WELDING TRAINING
Orbital Welding is a semi-automated, fully autogenous (no filler material) welding process that uses a ceriated Tungsten to rotate around the fixed work piece. This allows for high quality, repeatable weld often used in high purity systems.Orbital Welding Training is necessary for operator safety as well as to ensure proper and effective welds. Swagelok Western New York offers two different options for workforce training on Orbital Welding.
Associate Training
Enable your associates to safely and effectively operate an orbital welder through our 1-day, on-site Orbital Welding Training. Our trainers will provide theory and hands-on practical training customized to meet the needs of your project or business.
Student Training
The 1-day Orbital Welding Training is a perfect way to introduce your students to the automated welding system. We have conducted Orbital Welding trainings for both BOCES and University programs. Watch the above news video from our training day with the Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga BOCES welding program at the Cornell NanoScale Facility.
Topics
The 1-day Orbital Welding Training program is open to welders of all experience levels and is designed to help operators:
- Gain an understanding of orbital welding principles
- Understand setup and operation of the Swagelok M200 Orbital Welding System
- Appreciate the importance of gases (shielding and purging) in the weld process
- Troubleshoot frequently encountered welding problems
- Avoid operational issues through hands-on experience
At Swagelok Factory
Swagelok Corporate offers a comprehensive 5-day Orbital Welding training course where customers are introduced to Orbital Welding procedures and concepts at our Factory in Solon, OH. Attendees will become familiar with set-up of an Orbital Welding system and perform weld under the supervision of Certified Instructors. At the end of the Course, attendee’s take a practical weld test to earn their ASME Section IX qualification.

VALVE SAFETY AND SELECTION WORKSHOP
Selecting the right valve for an application is critical for system performance. With a wide range of selection criteria, this is not always an easy job. Valve function along with system pressure, temperature and media are common selection factors, but there are also many others. Environmental factors, system flow and end connections are just a few other selection criteria needed to select the right valve for any system.
Improper valve selection not only costs money and time, but can put the safety of your employees at risk. At Swagelok Western New York, we are here to meet all of your fluid system needs, and that starts with safety.
Course Outline
- Introductions and Resources
- 5 Types of Valve Operation
- System Parameters and Selection Factors
- Valves by Type
- Valve Options and Accessories
- Valve Sizing
- Selection Method
- Selection Workshop
Our Workshop is interactive and hands-on, allowing industry professionals to work through real life problems and systems to gain useful knowledge to apply in the workplace. The Workshop is taught by a team of subject matter experts consisting of field engineers and local representatives, with years of industry and application experience. Make sure to come prepared with questions, as they would love to help with your specific system needs.

VCR HIGH PURITY TRAINING
The applications and the fluids contained by VCR fittings are some of the most demanding in industry. The fitting must maintain a leak tight seal on the most highly toxic, corrosive and flammable fluids ever developed by man. The fitting must maintain system integrity and purity under a wide range of operating conditions. It must perform reliably in situations where it is reassembled numerous times. Understanding how to optimize the performance of the VCR fitting is the goal of this class.
Course Outline
- Swagelok VCR High Purity Fitting
- Vacuum and Positive Pressure
- Hands- On Installation
- Sealing Principles
- Materials of Construction
- Interior Surface finish
- Gasket Considerations
- Tubing Considerations, Specifications and Prep
- End Connections and Adapters
- Safety Considerations
Optional topics include an Orbital Welding Overview and High Purity Valve Selection
